The Sea Is Our Home

The Sea Is Our Home

Where does your love for the sea come from?

We were each born on a different side of the Mediterranean—myself in Barcelona and Daniel in Mallorca. Since we began our relationship, Daniel made me fall in love with the sea of the island. We live in paradise, and it must stay that way.

What does it evoke for you?

For us, the sea is our home. It brings us peace and recharges our energy. No matter how hard the day has been, diving into the sea at sunset makes you feel like you're on vacation all year round.

In what ways are you involved—both through Mallorca Site and personally—in protecting marine ecosystems?

Our whole family has always participated in collecting plastics from the sea. Wherever we go—swimming, paddle surfing, or boating—we return with plastics from the seabed either stuck to our swimsuits or gathered in bags to dispose of. We also collaborate with the Marilles Foundation, which works to make the Balearic Islands a global example of marine conservation.

You are involved in the Blue Marina project at Puerto Portals. How are you contributing?

We help spread their message to make it visible. We also actively inform our clients one-on-one to raise awareness and help improve and protect our most valuable asset—the Mediterranean Sea.

How would you assess the level of environmental commitment among foreigners who decide to buy a home and live in Mallorca?

In general, their commitment is sometimes greater than that of locals. Scandinavians and Germans who reside part-time on the islands are often very environmentally conscious, just as they are in their home countries.
