Yesterday, September 19th, we had the pleasure of attending the opening event of "La llum no esqueixa," organized by ABA ART as part of the ART PALMA CONTEMPORANI Nit de l'Art 2024 program. The exhibition, starring renowned Mallorcan painter Rafel Joan, will be available until December 5th at Project Room 34.

In this exhibition, Joan continues his exploration of light, a recurring theme throughout his career. Over recent years, his fascination with the surface of the sea has been key to his artistic evolution. In his work, light not only reflects but also penetrates and creates organic and abstract shapes that seem to come alive on the canvas. Through a process of decomposition and recomposition of landscapes, Joan presents mosaic-like compositions capturing the movement and transience of nature.

This approach has its roots in his previous works, such as the 2019 exhibition "Pintures", where he explored underwater landscapes and the magnificence of their textures, colors, and lights, conveying "light on the surface of the sea." Now, in "La llum no esqueixa", Joan observes that light does not break but constantly transforms, giving rise to a hypnotic visual experience.

With a career characterized by a rich color palette and a technique that moves between figurative and abstract, Rafel Joan has established himself as a benchmark in contemporary Mediterranean painting. His work invites viewers to dive into a sensory vision of the natural environment, where light and movement are the protagonists.

Thanks to Maribel & Alejandra from ABA ART for the invitation!
