Mallorca 2025: Design, Shared Vision and a Conscious Future

Jun 16, 2025

Mallorca is at a pivotal moment. As it strengthens its position as a premier tourist and residential destination, it is also looking ahead with a clear purpose: to evolve towards a more strategic, sustainable and balanced model. This is the foundation of Mallorca 2025, the special report published by The Business Year, one of the leading international publications in economic and sectoral analysis. A collective document that brings together the voices, ideas and projects shaping the island’s present and future.

MallorcaSite.com is proud to be part of this report alongside more than one hundred prominent figures from the institutional, business, cultural and social spheres. Contributors include representatives from key institutions such as the Consell de Mallorca, the Balearic Government, CAEB, FEHM, ABINI, as well as leading voices from the worlds of design, mobility, tourism, architecture, yachting and gastronomy. Together, they outline a plural and strategic vision that reflects on the structural transformations Mallorca must face — from urban planning to the sustainability of its economic model.

A future-facing Mallorca built through design and conscious real estate

Through three contributions, MallorcaSite.com shares its vision from different perspectives: as a boutique real estate agency with two decades of experience, as a driving force for design and urban regeneration through the Mallorca Design District, and as active members of the professional network via the presidency of ABINI.

In her interview, Gloria Rodríguez, co-founder of MallorcaSite.com, reflects on twenty years leading an agency that has remained true to its boutique essence while adapting to a shifting market. She advocates for a highly personalized real estate model based on proximity, interdisciplinary advisory services and the cultural integration of each buyer into the island.

As president of the Mallorca Design District (MADD), Gloria uses her voice in the report to champion the role of design, architecture and urban planning in building a more liveable, sustainable Mallorca aligned with long-term well-being.

Daniel Arenas, also co-founder of MallorcaSite.com and current president of ABINI (Balearic Association of National and International Real Estate Agencies), contributes an article focused on sustainable housing. He outlines the main challenges facing the real estate sector in the Balearic Islands: the lack of affordable housing, scarcity of available land, rising construction costs, and the need to professionalise the sector in order to ensure transparency and long-term credibility.

ABINI advocates for the official registration of real estate agencies, the promotion of Passivhaus-certified developments on rural land, and the expansion of the public housing supply through public-private partnerships. Daniel also stresses the need to attract responsible — not speculative — investment, and to ensure that Mallorca remains a place where both residents and new buyers can truly live.

A strategic vision for Mallorca

The full report is organised into thematic chapters covering public administration, tourism, sustainability, digitalisation, mobility, culture, sports and design. It offers a deep exploration of the structural changes reshaping the island. It addresses the impact of demographic pressure, the evolution of the tourism model, the energy transition, and regulatory reform — all without losing sight of what makes Mallorca unique: its identity, its landscape, its heritage and its ability to generate long-term quality of life.

Mallorca 2025 is more than a publication — it is a collective testimony from an island that no longer seeks growth for growth’s sake, but rather development with purpose.
