Mallorca Forward: A Collective Vision for a More Conscious Development

May 19, 2025

Our Managing Partner, Gloria Rodríguez Martín, took part as a panelist on May 16th in Mallorca Forward: Regeneration & Transformation, a forum promoted by The Business Year that brought together nearly one hundred business leaders, institutions, and representatives from key strategic sectors across the Balearic Islands.

The event, held in the extraordinary setting of Cap Rocat, focused on regeneration, sustainability, and innovation as the key pillars for the future of the Balearic economic model looking ahead to 2025.

Gloria took part as President of Mallorca Design District (MADD), a sectoral association bringing together real estate agencies, architects, interior designers, builders, and landscape professionals with a shared goal of transforming the southwest of the island (Calvià and Andratx).

In the first panel, focused on circular economy and regeneration as future strategies, she shared how design — in all its forms — can act as a true driver of change. Some of the key sustainable practices by MADD members included:

– Use of renewable energy in offices and public areas

– Sustainable landscaping with native species and reclaimed water systems

– Preference for natural materials and reuse of furniture

– Emphasis on energy efficiency and the Passive House standard

The discussion also addressed regulatory challenges that hinder circular economy practices and the urgent need to modernize the legal framework to better reflect the island’s context.

The session was moderated by Antoni Riera Font, Technical Director at Fundació Impulsa Balears, and included Antoni Ballester Gornals (Estel Ingeniería y Obras), Corinna Graf (Puerto Portals), and Francisco Vila (Arabella Golf Resort Mallorca).

The second panel explored innovation and technology as engines of economic diversification. Participants included José Mañas (WDNA), Mark Antipof (HBX Group), Daniel Doppler (Quicktext), and Yoann Blanc (AJE Baleares, Todoesdata), who discussed how AI, big data, and smart platforms are reshaping tourism and other key industries.

The event concluded with a networking session on the terrace of the Cap Rocat fortress, an exceptional setting overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, fostering further connections and collaboration.

It also marked the official launch of theSpecial Report: Mallorca 2025, a publication featuring more than 100 interviews with leading voices from the economic, political, and business landscape of the islands. Among them are contributions from Gloria Rodríguez Martín, in her dual role as Managing Partner of MallorcaSiteandPresident of Mallorca Design District (MADD), and from our co-founder Daniel Arenas, current President of ABINI (Balearic Association of National and International Real Estate Agencies). Their presence reinforces our commitment to a more strategic, sustainable, and collaborative future for Mallorca.
